The Cards app from Apple lets you create and send beautifully crafted, real greetings cards personalised with your own text and photos — straight from your iPhone or iPod touch, and now from your iPad too. Cards 2.0 takes advantage of the iPad’s additional screen real estate, making it even easier to customise cards with your own photos and text. Just choose one of your photos and with a few taps and swipes, an elegant thank-you note or wish-you-were-here card is on its way to any letterbox in the world. Choose from dozens of designs, including six new Christmas themes, then customise your card with a personal message and photo. You can even send multiple cards at once by selecting up to 12 recipients, personalising each card, and sending them off as a single order to be posted individually to your friends and family — perfect for the upcoming festive period.

Custom letterpress cards
• Cards combine a centuries-old letterpress technique with your digital text and photos
• Each card is crafted from 100 per cent cotton paper and imprinted with an elegant debossed design
• Choose from dozens of designs for eight occasions: Christmas, Thank You, Get Well, Baby, Birthday, Love, Travel and Mother’s Day
• Customise the placeholder text for any occasion, such as an anniversary or graduation
• Add up to three photos to your card or send one with just text

Location integration
• If you select one of the Travel designs, your card automatically displays the name of your current location
• Choose a photo with GPS data, and the card shows the name of the place where the photo was taken

Prepaid postage included
• Send a card anywhere in the world for £3.99 including postage — the price in other currencies is available in the app and on
• Select addresses from your Contacts and easily personalise them — from Mr. Johnny Appleseed to The Appleseed Family, for example
• To place your order, simply enter your Apple ID password
• In the US, your card will include our own Apple-designed postage

Delivery notification

Comments and Ratings for Cards

Dreadful cards (2.0.1)
30/03/2013 14:50:00 1/5 By sourdough sam
The App itself is fine, but the cards look cheap - and I'd sent a few before finally seeing the disappointing Christmas card I sent to my Mum - Sized about 5" x 3", printed on flimsy matte stock with bubblejet ink. Now understand why nobody I'd sent cards to before had ever thanked me!

Worse than useless (2.0.1)
25/03/2013 09:30:00 1/5 By Craig0wight
Made a card then selected 'change delivery address' so it charged me twice for the same card and took my money to dispatch one to Australia (even though they don't ship there!) and one to me. Rubbish.

Throw away your cash, it's easier (2.0.1)

First of all, the main reason why I will never use this app again and have deleted it is the VERY VERY poor service. I did not get any confirmation that what I had done had worked or payment had been taken. No email, no screen at the end saying it had worked, nothing. It's like accidentally dropping change and it rolling down a drain. App functionality and options basic to say the least. Extremely limited and boring card designs. Expensive and utterly poor service that takes very long. An app that has been created a while ago and ignored ever since by Apple. This app charges too much for a service that punches you in the face with it's poor quality of deliverance and abysmal cards. Has been more than 2 wks and still no card.. Appalling

My card hasn't come (2.0.1)

My card hasn't come Friday 8th march 2013 in the morning I'm disappointed

Very poor (2.0.1)
12/03/2013 23:14:00 1/5 By Jamesdr3
Sent birthday card to my nephew and was disappointed on how poor quality the print was especially the photo, as l was expecting a high standard gloss finish not something that looked to be from a cheap home printer, very poor will not use again not to the standard l expected from Apple.

Review (2.0.1)

Right, now don't go saying nasty stuff to Apple and learn to keep your mouths closed in future, also it's probably not the app but its your idiotic phones that don't work and finally this is a great app and I send all my support to Apple though it just needs a tiny amount more designs. From Apple supporters

Needs much better templates to compete (2.0.1)
06/03/2013 09:09:00 2/5 By Sweetpeafung
I use moonpig all the time for cards and have to say this app needs much more fun and different templates to compete if they're going to charge this much for a card. The templates are far too simple and plain which puts me off using the app. Much prefer online providers with a better selection and cheaper prices!

Poor quality cards, shipped from abroad. (2.0.1)
21/02/2013 21:30:00 1/5 By james948
Outrageously expensive to send a card. Also no customizing options for the templates. Update Cards very poor quality too. Shipped from abroad.

Very poor service. Won't be using again... (2.0.1)

Bought a valentines day card for my wife because I was out of town for valentines day. Cost is £3.99, purchased on Tuesday, notice of despatch on Wednesday. Valentines day Thursday, arrives SATURDAY!!! Completely useless and the quality of card materials and printing is well below par. Will never use again, feel totally ripped off!

Works really well! (2.0.1)

Review update 7th Feb 2013: The more cards I create and order the more I love this app. All the people who give this bad reviews, complaining of price or delivery times. Be quiet!! This Apple App is fabulous value and with a average delivery time of 4 - 5 working days, add that to beautifully crafted cards that you can't complain. Yes I would still like to see more designs, and a create my own design option would be fantastic, but overall a 5 star App and then some.... BRILLIANT!! Update 14th December2012 Used a few times over this holiday periods still getting delivery within 4-5 days. This app is great. The cards look stunning and are made to a very high quality. It still needs more styles, and some brighter, more vibrant colours and designs. But over all I think this app should be on everybody's iPad!! I've read some reviews for this App and I must agree with most, but for me what should be the big comment is, it needs more designs and they should be brighter and more vibrant. For example the Christmas range.... When I think of Christmas, I think of bright reds and gold, not pale pastel shades. I haven't actually sent any cards yet, but the delivery time is as long as suggested by some other reviews, this also needs work. That being said, the design of the App is great, easy to use and a simple clean look.

Great (2.0.1)
12/02/2013 15:41:00 4/5 By Greg Faulkner
I was on holiday in Florida at the time of my Moms birthday. Took a quick photo of myself and my wife on the beach with iPhone, added it into a card design with a message for her, sent it from my phone while sunbathing. It got to her 6 days later. She loved it. Happy days.

Cannot send cards (2.0.1)
09/02/2013 11:39:00 1/5 By AnnoyedBeyondMeasure
Another apple product that simply does not work. The app will not accept payment once I've made the card, despite endless attempts. Internet threads continue to share this issue and date back more than a year. Apple, just a thought - why not spend some of that $137 billion cash reserve on some professional development staff. You know, the ones that actually test their work before release. This issue has been fretted over by countless folks since October 2011, and continues to annoy. Ridiculous.

Love it! (2.0.1)
06/02/2013 21:59:00 5/5 By Jack Joe1
Great app. Takes about 7 days for me. But the best thing to do is order 9 day early. But I am in the UK so it might be faster in US. Good app though. Perfect for last minute cards!!!

DO NOT USE (2.0.1)
05/02/2013 10:57:00 1/5 By Benrm
Sent a birthday card to the US. The card did not arrive at all. Waste of time avoid at all costs.

Poor quality and overpriced (2.0.1)
03/02/2013 22:44:00 2/5 By mej7885
1) The cards look beautiful when designed on my iPad screen - glossy, sharp, bright colours, etc. However, despite using high res pics, the actual cards are not glossy, appear slightly grainy and the colours are muted - overall a poor print quality. 2) It costs approx £4.99 to send one card - that's because they're coming from the Czech Republic! I'm no environmentalist, but even I know that's a terrible carbon footprint for the sake of a greeting card. 3) The cards are very small - noticeably smaller than the standard size you find in any card shop. I was hoping these cards would have a high impact on special occasions, unfortunately I've found them to be underwhelming.

Too slow (2.0.1)
21/01/2013 10:33:00 2/5 By Chtdskiy
Nice app with good choice of card designs but unfortunately delivery is just too slow to make it worth while. All my cards have arrived too late after the event. There are better card apps that can provide a faster service and cost less.

Good idea. Poor execution (2.0.1)
13/01/2013 22:56:00 2/5 By milkpowder
Generally very high quality cards, BUT 1) takes ages to arrive, usually late. 2) recently I have been unable to buy cards due to the "additional information required" warning popping up. I have been unable to resolve this problem despite reinstalls, updating iTunes account info both from phone and PC, etc...

12/01/2013 23:16:00 1/5 By Joachim N
Sent a birthday card and it arrived late. What's the point!!!

Do not buy (2.0.1)
08/01/2013 22:11:00 1/5 By Steeeveee
Sent a New Years card, never arrived! Who's fleecing us? Is it Apple or another company?

Very basic features (2.0.1)
08/01/2013 21:57:00 2/5 By Anooprama
This app offers very basic editing features. Few which I felt missing: 1. No text formatting/font control. 2. Cannot resize photos.

What is a CVV? (2.0.1)
03/01/2013 08:38:00 1/5 By MacClashy
I'm trying to order a card but it's asking me for a CVV, don't know what one is?? Update: 02/01/13 It keeps asking me to update my iTunes account details, I do this (several times now over a few days) and it still tells me to update my iTunes account. This App is a brilliant idea, but currently unusable. 😡 If I were Apple I'd be ashamed that I cannot get this right.

Never arrived! (2.0.1)
01/01/2013 13:41:00 1/5 By Seth lives
Nice idea but the card I sent to my mother several months ago never arrived. That's all you need to know about this app.

Poor service (2.0.1)

Terrible (2.0.1)
30/12/2012 19:04:00 1/5 By Hamid lodge
Quality of cards is absolutely shocking, considering the photos are from an apple product they don't do there phones any justice! And they are most certainly not worth the money! £8 for 2 cards. You can get much better for much less. Apple is meant to be a sign of quality and yet again they have released a poor product. And why do they come from the Czech Republic?

Rubbish (2.0.1)
30/12/2012 17:46:00 1/5 By Shrek231
Not only did it take weeks to arrive, the cards are small and very disappointing. A rip off, do not use.

Dreadful (2.0.1)
30/12/2012 10:27:00 1/5 By Oother
Ordered a Christmas card for my brother on 18th December. It hasn't yet arrived and today is 30th December! No where on the pre-purchase screens does it say that it takes 3-5 days before it will even get posted, and nowhere does it say that they won't just put it into regular Royal Mail 1st class (which would have got here before Christmas, given that Apple have confirmed it was actually dispatched 20th December!). It's also ridiculously expensive compared to other similar services but I paid it, assuming this was an Apple product and Apple do things slickly. I'll be writing to Apple separately to request my money back. Avoid.

Xmas card (2.0.1)
