• Fixed some issues with the Wunderlist importer.
• Fixed various localization issues, particularly with Traditional Chinese.
• Fixed some issues when editing project titles with Chinese/Japanese/Korean keyboards.
• Fixed some crashes that were occurring in the Upcoming list.
• Improved handling of declined/canceled calendar events.
• Minor sync improvements.

—— New in 3.0.0 ——

• ALL-NEW DESIGN
How it looks, how it works, and how it feels – Things has been completely redesigned, with more clarity, improved workflows, better structure, and delightful animations. It’s a to-do list like no other.

• PROJECT HEADINGS
It’s so much easier to handle your projects now that you can break them up with headings. Use them to create categories, milestones, or whatever you need.

• CHECKLISTS
Some things take several steps to complete but don’t require a full-blown project. So we now have Checklists, which help you break down the finer details of a to-do. Use them for shopping lists, when packing your bag for a trip, or to detail a process at work so you won’t miss a critical step.

• DESKTOP-CLASS LIST EDITING
Editing your lists on iOS now comes with lots of power, and no friction. Swipe to-dos to multi-select them, then edit them all at once: set their date, move them to another list, or tap and drag the group together.

• MAGIC PLUS BUTTON
Finally, a versatile way to insert a to-do right where you want it! Just drag the magical button with your finger and let go. You can also drag it toward the left margin in a project to create a Heading, or drop a new item to your inbox from any other list.

• CALENDAR INTEGRATION
Display calendar events alongside your to-dos and stay on top of your schedule. They will show at the top of your Today list, and for each day in Upcoming, where you plan the week ahead.

• SWIPE TO SCHEDULE
Working with dates is super easy with the new When selector. Simply swipe on any to-do to bring it up, then quickly choose when you want to start: Today, a later date, or it on hold in Someday.

• NATURAL LANGUAGE RECOGNITION
The When Selector has a magical ingredient: Natural Language Recognition. It smartly detects what you’re typing to work out what you mean... “Tom(orrow)”, “Sat(urday)”, “in fou(r days)”, “Au(gust 1)”. As you can see, it jumps to all the right conclusions.

• PLAN YOUR DAY – WITH TODAY AND THIS EVENING
Once you’ve made your plan, the Today list is your go-to place for all daily activities. Calendar events now display at the top, giving an outline of your schedule. Your to-dos follow, with a discrete section at the bottom called This Evening for things you’ll get to later in the day.

• PLAN YOUR WEEK – WITH UPCOMING
Plan your week ahead with the new Upcoming list. It shows everything on your agenda for the coming days: scheduled to-dos, repeating to-dos, deadlines, and calendar events. A quick peek at this list is all it takes to stay on top of your schedule.

• REMINDERS
One of Things’ most-requested features is now here: time-based reminders! You can add a reminder by typing (natural language recognition), or just speak to Siri. For those to-dos you absolutely cannot miss, reminders will give you peace of mind.

• QUICK FIND
Search and navigation in Things is now extremely fast, with Quick Find. All you need to do is swipe down in any list and start typing – the name of a project, to-do, or tag – and instantly you’re taken there. It’s magic!

• APP-WIDE TAG FILTERS
Just search for the name of any tag to pull up an app-wide filter. It shows all items with that tag across all your projects and areas. It’s a fantastically versatile way to view your to-dos.

• THE NEW SOURCE LIST
Projects are now shown directly under their areas to keep everything tidy. Each one also has a progress indicator that shows just how close you are to achieving your goal.

Description

*** APPLE DESIGN AWARD WINNER 2017 ***

Meet the all-new Things! A complete rethinking of the original, award-winning task manager – with a perfect balance between simplicity and power, incredible new features, delightful interactions, and a timeless new design.

HERE’S HOW THINGS WORKS

If you’re new to Things, this is the basic workflow:

1. Collect Your Thoughts
Get things off your mind quickly with Things’ action extension – it lets you create to-dos from other apps. Or just talk to Siri on any device (“Remind me to...”) and import from Reminders.

2. Get Organized
Create a project for each of your goals, then add the steps to reach them. For clarity, add structure with headings. Then group your projects by areas of responsibility, such as “Family”, “Work”, or “Health”. Review these regularly to stay on top of things.

3. Plan Your Time
See your calendar events alongside your to-dos and plan your time effectively. Create repeating to-dos for things you do every few days, weeks, or months – Things will remind you on the right day.

4. Make the Most of Your Day
Every morning, grab a coffee and prepare your list for “Today”: review previously planned to-dos and make quick decisions on what to tackle. Pick some more steps from your projects and then get going. The Today list is the only place you’ll need to look for the rest of the day.

5. Customize Your Workflow
Use tags to categorize your to-dos or add context. For example, tag places like “Office” or “Home”, or tag all your “Errands”, or everything you’re working on with “Kate”. You can easily find everything you’ve tagged via filtering or search.

HERE’S WHY WE THINK YOU’LL LOVE THINGS

1. It stays out of your way.
As you start using Things, you’ll quickly notice how seamlessly all the features fit together to give you an uncluttered, focused experience. There are no unnecessary frills. No pointless gimmicks or useless controls. In fact, you’ll hardly notice the app – it’s just you and your to-dos.

2. Everything revolves around your to-dos.
In Things, each of your to-dos are special. In a list, they simply show a checkbox and the title of your to-do. But when you open them, they extend into a beautiful white piece of paper that’s ready to hold your thoughts. Additional details (checklists, tags, reminders, deadline) are nicely tucked away in the corner until you need them.

3. It’s got a touch of magic.
Things removes friction in magical ways. Take the new Magic Plus Button that lets you insert to-dos at any place in a list – simply via drag and drop. Or the ease at which you can multi-select and operate on many to-dos at once. Or the natural language date parser: just type “tomorrow”, “in 4 days” or “next Wednesday” and it will jump to all the right conclusions.

4. It’s got all the power of iOS.
Things is fully integrated with all the latest iOS technologies: Calendars, Siri & Reminders, Today Widget, Slide Over, Split View, Keyboard Shortcuts, Action Extension, Handoff, and Notifications.

5. And much more...
Everyone’s got their favorite feature, it’s impossible to list them all. See what our users love about Things – visit our website at: thingsapp.com

Comments and Ratings for Things 3 for iPad

Impressive update (3.0.3)
08/06/2017 03:50:19 5/5 By Dawn Riser
For me this is the best organiser for my daily tasks and bigger projects. I have used Things since it was first launched, but this version takes it to a new level. It can a simple ToDo app or it can be used at a deeper level to organise projects, as a GTD app, in fact it probably only needs a little imagination to make the only organisational app you will need across Mac platforms. Things 3 also looks good. 5 Stars from me

Useful app (3.0.3)
07/06/2017 04:34:24 5/5 By JRL'74
Using things 3 for a week now and impressed with its simplicity and functionality. I would like to be able to insert photo's as part of the note taking facility within a to do. Would also be good if there was a windows version to integrate my laptop

Great.. but.. (3.0.2)
06/06/2017 09:15:43 4/5 By Dougalov
Lovely app on the iPad, well thought through UI, but why do I need to pay again now to get it on my iPhone? Also PC version would be useful.

Very good. (3.0.2)

Really good app, love it.

One more thing ... (3.0.2)
05/06/2017 05:30:33 4/5 By Burrisher
I have already written a five star review - and I stick by that. This four star version is to echo the call in a review I have just seen, asking for the facility to put images into the Notes. It would make this into a world beating organiser app. Things 4 perhaps?

Excellent app (3.0.2)
04/06/2017 00:18:15 5/5 By Raggzie
I'm a long term user of Things 2 and this update has been a long overdue. I use Things to help me plan my work and in my personal projects. I find it extremely helpful in keeping track and reminding me about my daily tasks. I use Things on Mac OS and iOS.

Have been won over (3.0.2)
03/06/2017 17:57:59 4/5 By Blotzz
Have been won over from todoist so far. Just love the design and just about everything works smoothly. Have left off one star as there are features I miss from todoist but it has something that is making me love using it....

Integrates all your to dos with your diary (3.0.2)
02/06/2017 00:49:34 5/5 By Mike Consult
At first when I was asked to pay again for a new version I was doubtful - but this new version of Things really is a completely new product. It's more user friendly and intuitive than the previous version, and I really like the diary display which shows my different project activities due each day - plus anything else in my diary, across my work and personal life. Very importantly it syncs flawlessly across.Mac, iPad and iPhone. Definitely worth the upgrade

Great app (3.0.2)
01/06/2017 05:21:30 5/5 By arns44
After switching from the previous Things to OmniFocus, I've now switched back to Things. The new functionality and gorgeous style has won me over.

Do I Like Things? (3.0.2)
29/05/2017 17:13:17 5/5 By majacmun
Yes INDEED. simple to use, detailed, very well laid out - have already bought iPhone and iPad versions, and am evaluating on Mac, but I have already relegated my previous task manager to a hidden folder. Things is brilliant and a credit to the developers - this a joy to use every day AND helps my productivity. There are slight negatives - It is expensive for all three apps, and it could do with a little tweak, in the form of images being available for using, (every picture is worth 1000 words) along with ability to insert files into a todo / project. Also, some sort of system indicating priority, not all todos are same priority. A recurring evening task should recur on the next evening automatically, and an finally an indication of time task is actually due would be nice on main page of Today... All in all though a BRILLIANT app, that is productive and always a pleasure to use. Excellent work!!

Things 3 (3.0.2)
29/05/2017 15:31:22 5/5 By Turtle B
I find it to be one of the best productivity apps I have used to date. Over the the years there have been many but Things 3 is easy, simple and not cumbersome as others I have used.

Beautiful, simple design and intuitive (3.0.2)
29/05/2017 14:59:17 5/5 By The Mind Doctor
I used Things previously but then migrated to PI for calendar and tasks. However, I have since found love for dedicated tasks app again with Things. It is a very simple but beautiful design which is a joy to use-a must have feature if you use any method/app. It shows your iCal appointments so you are covered in terms of planning and scheduling tasks. It's a pain to pay twice for iPhone and iPad but that may be the price you have to pay for an excellent app.

Brilliant App (3.0.2)
27/05/2017 19:16:48 5/5 By Olumight
The new update is wonderful. Can't really complain. It's clean, not complicated. I like the fact that I can now time my todo's, something I was longing for from the very first incarnation of the app. Well done guys.

Just superb (3.0.2)
27/05/2017 01:58:50 5/5 By GPCC
What an update! Yes, it's as good as everyone's saying – a superb, beautiful, functional GTD system. Bravo! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Visually beautiful but needs some upgrades (3.0.2)
26/05/2017 04:50:17 3/5 By LN&MollyDog
A beautiful update that makes Things as attractive as some of the alternatives. Still seems to be missing a few features though: * No sub tasks * No geotagging tasks * No email to Things(? - can't find things) * No browser version * Not available outside the Apple ecosystem - come on Cultured Code - think bigger!

Frictionless task management (3.0.2)
26/05/2017 03:52:17 5/5 By adecx
I tried Thing many years ago but was ultimately won over by the flexibility and functionality of an alternative product. However, after struggling with getting tasks out of my head and into the competing application, I decided to try Things again. I've been using Thing 3 single launch on all platforms and have found it much easier to use. Although Things may not have all the bells and whistles of my previous task manager, it provides a far better balance of features vs friction. I now have a much better handle of my outstanding tasks. Features such as checklists and headings make it far easier to structure my task. Global search is a godsend. Sync is rock solid. I'd quite like to see the ability to use URL scheme to allow deep linking to specific projects & tasks and the ability to import/export task paper files. However, these are by no way deal breakers for me. Well done guys. A very solid point-zero release.

Almost perfect (3.0.2)
25/05/2017 17:10:38 4/5 By Deke
Might just be me but I want to be able to collapse my areas again.

Needs iOS external keyboard support urgently (3.0.2)
25/05/2017 09:41:11 4/5 By Psionmark
I'd convinced myself not to get this, but here I am 😄 Having been a long time user in the past, I had to see what it was like. Overall, this appears to be another beautiful app by Cultured Code but, as another reviewer has stated, there's no external keyboard support for shortcuts, which I find astonishing. If you're going to re-write from the ground up, why didn't it occur to you to add what's a standard these days? An iPad with keyboard Smart Cover is my default computer, as it is to many people these days. It's stuff like this that gets me worried - hence the 3 stars. If you can omit something that appears entirely obvious to a user on their first use of the application, what else is missing? I'll give you the benefit for now, but this really does need to be added very quickly, especially given the price (about £60 for iPhone, iPad and MAC OS versions, if I get them all within the next 4 days, otherwise 20% more). Please confirm this is being treated as urgent. P.S. I should've also added that, despite the above, this is a truly beautiful and useful app, so I've upped it to 4 stars, awaiting 5 once we get the keyboard shortcuts 😄

Excellent (3.0.2)
25/05/2017 07:53:56 5/5 By J0912£4£!.
Excellent! I would call it superb, if images could be added to notes...perhaps that will come in a future upgrade?! As it is, my rating says it all.

No Keyboard support!!!! (3.0.2)
24/05/2017 16:57:56 3/5 By Office user
Great app. Pay out again for the iPad version - no problem. But to find no keyboard support once I'd paid, and no mention of it on the 'what's changed' part of the support website ... well, the question is there, but the answer is limited to the OS X version ... unforgivable. Come on, four years in development and you should have included CMND N at least :-) You still get 5 stars, as it's brilliant overall - but the keyboard support was a let down and I ended up trying various keyboards and iPads to be sure it wasn't my set up.

Absolutely loving it (3.0.2)
24/05/2017 13:40:49 5/5 By TheMightyClarets
As I got into my first poor attempts at GTD a couple years ago I was using Things, then Things 2. I didn't get to the next level of efficiency until I switched to MyLifeOrganized. However, Things 3 has got me to switch back (a project in itself). Beautiful and intuitive. My one request is for a bit of user specified colour at the 'Area' level - I like a bit of differentiation between my 4 work and 3 home areas of focus. Great.

Excellant task app (3.0.2)
24/05/2017 11:19:34 5/5 By HJ34
I shout my task at Siri and then using the sync in the app - they magically appear. The projects and tags is the app is excellent. Well worth the money.

Very pleased I went for it! (3.0.2)
24/05/2017 07:49:46 5/5 By TheShadowLover
I hesitated to get the new Things 3 as I have been very happy with Things 2 and wasn't sure I needed to buy a new one. I am delighted I did - new features I e always sort of wanted are there, like better sharing into other apps, the new view of forthcoming Things and calendar integration. Thanks guys, a great app is now even better!

Excellent, simple, flexible, elegant (3.0.2)
23/05/2017 15:26:10 5/5 By coreuser
Things 2 was the best task organiser I've ever used -- until Things 3. Simple to collect the simplest reminders, flexible to handle 'date-less' items. Flexible to organise items both into projects (or not) and by multiple tags ... and the new look is elegant without being attention-seeking.

Updated (3.0.2)
23/05/2017 02:49:03 5/5 By Frogface47
I've used Things since it first came out just for stuff in general as well as in particular ;p and don't know how I'd do without it now. I like the updated layout etc apart from not being able to just drag and drop 'to do' to whichever area I want it. At the moment you can change order etc but if I want to make a new area and put old to dos in it so you can't see the contents of the area from the side bar I'd have to cut and paste it all. Apart from that it's bangin' (as these young people say?).

An excellent update (3.0.2)
23/05/2017 00:50:04 5/5 By Letmeoutofhere...
Trying again after OmniFocus and I think I'll stick with it. Great layout and all the features I need apart from repeating todos not being able to be held in projects but I believe that is coming soon.

Much improved (3.0.2)
22/05/2017 14:26:35 4/5 By BK2000
More than a lick of paint, some great new functionality and attractive clutterfree design. Grateful for the initial discount as buying again from scratch did irk a little, as did the separate iPhone and iPad versions. But overall I prefer a one off price to subscription. Recommended.

Early days but good so far (3.0.2)
22/05/2017 07:59:58 5/5 By DAF890
Early days, but this seems much better than Things 2 and the ability to group projects and convert actions to projects is very nice. Sync seems reliable at present.

A long time coming.... (3.0.2)
21/05/2017 13:56:19 5/5 By Harling
It has been a significant wait for Things 3. Now it is finally launched, the improvements and features are just as significant. One of the best apps on the market, if you're needing a day-to-day tool for seeing the woods between the agenda, meetings, emails, and documentation trees. Great job Cultured Code.

Excellent (3.0.2)
21/05/2017 13:20:28 5/5 By Dickie Dove
I've tried them all. Omnifocus where I just felt as though I was losing tasks into obscure contexts, Reminders where the repeating todos were unreliable, 2do which tried to be all things to all men and ended up confusing, Todo and Wunderlist which just felt to web app like. All of them made me feel like I was getting my todo list done rather than things done... Things 3 accelerates my productivity and ensures that it will stay there long term.
