Comments and Ratings for Cinemagraph Pro

Ridiculous price for such a simple app. Why don’t they show the price before you download the trial? (2.2)

Does nothing you can’t do with a simple picture editing app and a video editing app. If you can already draw a mask, apply one video layer over another using the mask, then apply colour filters, then you can already create cinemagraphs.

Totally Rubbish (2.2)

Says it free and well, Stay away. Doesn't work and puts horrible watermark on images. Waste of data download.

Amazing concept (2.1.2)

…but crazy licence price. What a brillant idea and great for those that use social media for marketing purposes. However pricing structure is inline with Adobe Suite (already overpriced) but with really only one function. There is no way I can justify using this for my business.

£299 for single purpose app? No thanks (2.0)

The app is simple to use, and does what it describes: HOWEVER, they are asking for far too much money to export un-watermarked videos or Gifs. Your options are £149 a year, or £299 one off. Frankly for that amount I could hire a video editor to do it for me! Nice idea, well executed, but ruined by the cost. I would be prepared to pay maximum £49.99 for this app as it’s well designed - asking for £300 is ludicrous when it only has one function.

Really? That price? £229 (1.9)

Doesn’t do anything that you can’t do in Photoshop (for less money). The price is ridiculous for what it achieves. Even Adobe Photoshop subscription is cheaper than theirs and that is a significantly more advanced tool with greater features. Steer clear, unless you have zero common sense or more money than you actually need. I remember when it used to be around £99 and I thought it was expensive then, for what it is. Don’t waste your money, wouldn’t surprise me if the positive reviews on here are by staff or people who have been paid.

Very Disappointed (1.7.2)

Irrelevant of the apps current ‘free’ price, i would expect that i would at least be able to produce a viewable cinemagraph, at least once or at least at low resolution. The water mark (or water blocking as it more realistically is) is horrendous. The app itself has a lot of potential, but you really have got your pricing and marketting of it all wrong. When someone chooses to spend hours in Adobe After Affects over using or paying for your app, you know you have lost. Fix the watermarking and the price for the actual full version of the app and perhaps we can talk

There are plenty of negative reviews here, but I’d sum them up with one word: myopic. I’ve been using this app for a few months, and it’s revolutionised a few things for me. The method of making cinemagraphs is MUCH easier than it ever has been before - the old school After Effects route could take many hours to more than a day, where this app speeds up the process in a very intelligent manner. Sure, some features are slightly limited (for me mostly just the colouring side of it), but I have a pro video background so I do a lot of post processing in After Effects/Da Vinci Resolve. People need to realise that this app, while attractive to people who want to try it for fun, is also poised to act as a professional tool. Complaining about the price is akin to complaining about the pricing of any Adobe or other software products… just get it or don’t but moan about it. I’ve used this app professionally for work many times, and it’s an integral part of a workflow that has seen my cinemagraph work be appreciated by various companies, big agencies and clients. So much so, that I’m working towards specialising purely in cinemagraphs - and it’s all only possible because of Flixel and their Cinemagraph Pro app. I’m sure there are other apps that allow you to make cinemagraphs, so if you want to test the waters and film your cat licking milk without complaining about the price, try them out. But if you’re serious about wanting to make professional looking cinemagraphs and presenting them in a format that’s accessible, professional and great quality, then Cinemagraph Pro is the way to go, and their channel/streaming service is a great way to get your work discovered. A further point of importance is the company itself. I’ve had numerous interactions with many of the people working at Flixel, and they’ve been the most supportive company of any software company whose products I’ve ever used. They’ve been quick to respond to enquiries, extremely supportive of my work and they’re doing a lot to help creators like me stand out, while trying to lay the ground in the market for cinemagraphs to become a highly utilised media asset over the next few years. I’m neither paid, nor encouraged by them to write this, it’s purely my own review that reflects how awesome this app and the company has been to me.

Nice little touch (1.6.1)

That little touch, a watermark… Good going, guys! Here is my little 1 star watermark.

Good grief! That watermark… (1.6.1)

I downloaded this at the end of March, but only got around to trying it out tonight for the first time. If only I’d seen Crimson Hikari's comment (April 6th, 2015) I could have avoided wasting my time. That review sums it up nicely. The only thing I wanted to add is that I have now removed the app from my machine.

Giant Watermark, need to pay to remove (1.6.1)
06/04/2015 14:25:00 1/5 By Crimson Hikari
I was so happy to see this app go cheaper and then free. I’d wanted to use it for so long, but there’s no way I could justify the ridiculous price tag for so few features. However, I’ve been horrendously disappointed. I was expecting an app with a reduced feature set, but served some similar function to its formerly expensive counterpart. Instead…I got full features, but with nothing to show for it at the end; When you export, the entire viewable picture is covered by an intrusive watermark. A small watermark, I could understand, but this is a solid white watermark that covers around 70% of the image. This isn’t a free app. This is a trial disguised as an app with in-app purchases because the results are unusable in any way. To actually utilise the app, be prepared to fork out £199/£150.
