Release Notes

01/06/2017 | Version : 6.11.1 | Size : 54.7 MB
We've fixed several issues people were having with notes:
- Some notes created in Evernote for Mac would not render after sync
- Some tables lost formatting after updating Evernote to 6.11
- Pasting a line of text would add an additional line break
- Some full width dividers from other clients were not shown as full width
- Some pasted content were missing styles

11/04/2017 | Version : 6.11 | Size : 54.3 MB
Touch Bar support for the latest MacBook Pros allows quick access to key navigation and note editing commands.

We've fixed several issues people were having with notes:
- Search terms weren’t highlighted in notes for some searches
- Clicking on an attachment sometimes caused the note to scroll up, making it hard to open attachments
- Shift + arrow up or down did not highlight if the line above or below was blank
- Shift + enter did not create a non-bulleted line in a bulleted list
- Couldn’t delete the leftmost column in a table if the top cell is formatted
- Line breaks were unexpectedly removed after syncing some notes originally created on iPhone
- Content copied from a PDF sometimes could not be pasted into a note
- Applying Simplify Formatting to clipped notes removed returns
- If the last item in a list was blank, it disappeared when users navigated away and then back to the note
- Couldn’t remove indents from text in some notes created in earlier versions of Evernote
- In tables, if you triple clicked to select the content and then cut, you would be unable to focus on the cell
- If you added a new checklist item in the middle of an existing checklist, one character of a checklist item might be unexpectedly deleted

29/10/2016 | Version : 6.10 | Size : 54.1 MB
Important under the hood changes to the note editing experience lay the groundwork for even more improvements in the future.

Comments and Ratings for Evernote – stay organized

Got me organised! (6.11)
18/04/2017 07:07:27 5/5 By PipN
Evernote can be all things to all people. It is so flexible that it can either be used simply as a document repository that needs no organisation because its so searchable (even handwritten notes in attached jpeg files are findable!), or it can be used to organise and keep track of everything from tasks at hand to gift ideas to my PhD lab book. I use it in conjunction with “The Secret Weapon” (thesecretweapon.org) and also with “Productivity Ninja” (thinkproductive.co.uk) methods. Excellent App. Highly recommended.

Used to be great. Not anymore. (6.10)
13/03/2017 12:26:06 1/5 By John Doe & Son
I find that Evernote is now too aggressive in its methods in attempting to force users to upgrade to a subscription service. For that reason, I have decided to move all my notes to Google Drive, and abandon Evernote. Good-bye.

How to ruin a good app! (6.10)
10/03/2017 08:43:05 1/5 By Veganomist
I am sorry to say that you have absolutely ruined a really good app with your constant ‘under the hood’ updating. I am now tryin gto figure out how to migrate my documents to other apps. What a waste!

Crashes costantly (6.10)
03/03/2017 09:15:06 1/5 By IceTz
I liked using Evernote, but after serveral times crashing on a number of notes, it cost me hours of work I could not get back, so it is basically unusable. I since requested my money back, but never heard anything… Enough said.

Mac memory hog (6.10)
12/02/2017 02:14:33 2/5 By marspu1
We use Evernote in our start-up to share ideas via chat and collaborate. Up until the latest release it has been excellent - however it now takes up a memory on the Mac - regularly 5Gb - killing my laptops performance and requiring me to spend precious time resolving it. Given I am paying for the Premium service this is really disappointing.

Buggy text editor in app for taking notes!!! (6.10)
11/01/2017 07:19:29 2/5 By birukato
Guys, essential part of the notes app is a text editor, and it is buggy almost to the point impossible to use. Especially dissapointing parts - Line endings are messed up when you paste text copied from everest - selection with the keyboard is resetting itself - formatting is cumbersome and hard to clear

Their staff read your notes (6.10)
16/12/2016 01:36:04 1/5 By symroe
I stopped using Evernote after they announced that they will use your notes to mine for information. You should not consider using this product if you keep notes that you wouldn’t want to see in public – you can’t trust them to keep them safe.

Aggressive user exploitation (6.10)
15/12/2016 05:08:33 1/5 By slexer
Until about 9 months ago, I loved working in Evernote, syncing between all devices, everything easily accessible. Basically, perfect. As I never used it for any more than text, I had no need in their pro features, as well as I do not like subscruption based software packages. A happy user and someone who would rave about this software to friends and collegues was obviously not enough for them. First they attempted to foce me into subscription by restricting the amount of devices you can sync. Now they added the clause that their employees can read all your notes packaged as an "Important under the hood changes to the note editing experience lay the groundwork for even more improvements in the future.” I’m done with this, shame, but there are less aggressive companies around offering useful tools.

Be aware that Evernote staff read your notes (6.10)
14/12/2016 10:35:22 1/5 By Simon Starr
In a recent update, Evernote quietly announced that their staff would be reading users’ notes to "make sure that our machine learning technologies are working correctly.” While you can opt out (although everyone’s automatically opted in by default) of this specific functionality, "you cannot opt out of employees looking at your content for other reasons stated in our Privacy Policy.” Evernote is already bloated in my opinion – all I want to do is keep notes somewhere where I can access them across devices – but this latest change has given me the motivation to stop using it. I’ve exported and deleted all my notes and I’ll be cancelling my subscription.

Good functional app, concerns about policies (6.10)
14/12/2016 05:16:06 3/5 By Happy5£
App was fine. Good multi platform support and synching worked well. Found the UI rather boring, but functional and improved significantly in last year. However, customer support response was poor and put barriers up when I wanted to have my personal data deleted after deactivating amy account. Sad to see this kind of approach to personal data protection.
