FaceTime for Mac makes it easy to talk, smile and laugh with friends and family on their iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPod touch or Mac. Getting started is quick and easy — simply enter your Apple ID and you're ready to go. Whether you're talking to someone on an iPhone or on another Mac, video calls with FaceTime look great. There's no better way to keep all your favorite faces just a click away.

Simple to Get Started
• Setup is quick and easy – just enter your Apple ID.
• With just one click, you can make a video call to an iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPod touch, or another Mac.

Easy-to-Organize Contacts
• Make calls using your existing Address Book contacts – you don’t have to enter your contacts from scratch.
• Add the people you call most often to your Favorites list.
• Quickly review your past calls with Recents.

High-Definition Video
• Receive HD video calls at up to 720p on supported, Intel-based Macs.*
• A Mac with a standard-definition camera delivers up to VGA-quality video for Mac-to-Mac calls.

Elegant Interface
• Window and playback controls fade away so the focus stays on your conversation.
• View transitions smoothly when an iPhone 4, iPad 2, or iPod touch user switches from front to rear cameras or from portrait to landscape views.
• FaceTime's widescreen aspect ratio makes it easy for families and groups to participate in a call.
• Enjoy your video call full screen, using every inch of your beautiful Mac display.

Ring Anywhere, Any Time
• Incoming calls ring on your Mac, even if FaceTime isn’t running.
• If you have more than one Mac, incoming calls ring on every one so you can answer on the Mac that’s most convenient.

*Video calls require a built-in FaceTime camera, an iSight camera (built-in or external), a USB video class (UVC) camera, or a FireWire DV camcorder; and a 128-Kbps upstream and downstream Internet connection. Making HD video calls requires a built-in FaceTime HD camera and a 1-Mbps upstream and downstream Internet connection. Receiving HD video calls requires a supported Intel-based Mac. Facetime what is it? (1.0.5)

donloaded this app but the app did not open so I still do not know what it is? I had hoped for something that at least worked from apple but this is a first, for which I would like to give it a zero!!!

Another Apple app that doesn’t work... (1.0.5)

So I suddenly can’t log into FaceTime. On searching the web for useful advice, I discover this is a HUGE bug that, as ever, Apple is ignoring. For once, I would really like Tim Cook to announce: "Apple is halting further Mac OS development for the next 24 months. All Mac OS developer time and 1 billion dollars will be invested in FIXING the myriad bugs, glitches and interoperability issues in the Mac OS X and iOS ecosystem. The neurotic drive for new features will cease, and the focus will be on RELIABILITY and ROBUST FUNCTIONALITY of all existing OS features. Apple is going back to its focus on making products 'that just work.’" We can but dream… Until sanity catches up with Apple, I can only add FaceTime to the list of “innovative features” that do not actually work.

Facetime Already Installed But Must Pay For Update (1.0.5)
27/12/2014 16:38:00 1/5 By CSmidge
I already have facetime installed on my Mac however, it wouldn't open and prompted me to pay £0.69 to install the latest version. Personally, I think the update should have been free. Not very happy with this update to be honest. . .

Won (1.0.5)

When trying to install this app on OSX Lion from the app store I get the following message: "FaceTime can’t be installed on 'drive name' because the version of Mac OS X is too new." I only purchased this recently and it was running fine on Snow Leopard. *disappointed*

Doesn't work (1.0.5)

As with several other users, I upgraded based on the claim that it resolves issues. It does not - Facetime doesn't work at all now due to internal errors. Thanks Apple

Worked fine till I upgraded my computer - then 8 months of fruitless & tiresome effort trying to resolve insufficient sound issues. Have given up and bought my poor old Dad a new iPad so actual sound issue been resolved (at a high price). Do we really have to ensure all our contacts upgrade there hardware simultaniously to maintain a service?! I dread Yosemite - what will that do! Facetime service till very unreliable (intermittent spells of disconnecting mid discussion) & apple personnel do not seem to know how to diagnose or resolve issues.
