HeliumLift is a revamp of Jaden Geller's floating browser window, Helium. Read the news, browse the web and do more all while watching your favorite show in a convenient Picture-in-Picture window. Your content will never fall behind your other windows even as you switch tasks. HeliumLift supports a customizable translucency mode that allows you to simultaneously see your content and your work, without intercepting mouse clicks when it's translucent. You have the ability to click, drag, scroll behind your floating content, it even works in full screen apps!

Quickly launch popular streaming services such as Netflix, YouTube, or Plex right from the home screen or use the Chrome Extension to fling web pages right from your browser to HeliumLift.

HeliumLift is a menu bar app. Access settings or quit the app from the menu bar icon at the top of your Mac.

Best Picture in Picuture app out there (1.1)

Best app out there, does the job. Really nice intergration with the Google plugin however i used the "Open in Helium” Google Chome plugin due to it having an icon in the taskbar rather than a right click option. The following things would make this a 5/5. 1. Google Chome App to have an icon instead of a right click. 2. Close button to close the overlay when not needing it (Although keep the app open in the OSX menu bar) 3. When opening the overlay be able to fix it to a position and remember where the user wants it. For example bottom right. (I had to use the “Stay” app from cordlessdog for this functionality) Would be great to see these changes in the next update.

Not bad at all (1.1)

A good fork of the original app, the Chrome integration is pretty great, but Netflix doesn’t work for me. My Mac still wants to use Silverlight for Netflix on Safari (works on Chrome without Silverlight). Perhaps this is an App Store limitation though, as it works fine on the original version. As such HeliumLift will not serve as replacement for the original app but supplement it. I immediately noticed also that the Twitch icon on the homescreen doesn’t work. Other than that it seems to work as intended.

Can’t quit (1.0)

Downloaded it and realised it wasn’t suitable for what I wanted to use it for. Tried to quit but it’s impossible. It doesn’t show up as an open app, you can’t move it to trash because you have to be able to close it to do that, and it appears on every desktop, meaning I couldn’t just move my windows to avoid it. Don’t bother getting it, it’s a nuisance.
