i have used this product for many years. reporting could be improved (e.g. balances by category), but easily solved by copying csv files into Numbers.

Can't accurately change regular payments (3.3.12)
08/05/2013 10:34:00 3/5 By Wkeith01
This program is very good but, could be better hence only 3 stars. Once you have set up a regular credit or debit transaction and you wish to change the date, you have to either cancel the transaction completely and start a fresh, or change the date on every single occurance of that transaction, because say the first transaction is £20 on 20/05/2013 paid monthly and you wish to change the date to 03/05/2013 (or any other date) it only changes the first occurrence regardless, it leaves a gap where the next transaction should be (03/06/2013) so the following transactions for that series will still show as 20/06/2013 and so on. As I said the only way around is to cancel the series and re-set with the new date or change every occurrence for that series, this is not good and time consuming. ifanance have no contact to inform them of this problem so hope they take the trouble and read this and correct the problem.

The best Ive found (3.3.12)
28/04/2013 10:47:00 5/5 By LifesEasierWithMac
I have been using iFinance for three years now; after dumping my PC in favour of Mac and consequently losing MS Money in the process. I now find the program very intuitive to use and also find it easy to see my financial position in it’s uncluttered interface. The only thing I do miss is that after three years input my database is becoming quite large and can take a while to load (well for a Mac anyway, on a PC it would be considered almost instantaneous) What I would like to see in a future update is the ability to archive a years transactions and carry the current balance over to a clear database for each account.

Basic (3.3.10)
18/08/2012 16:56:00 2/5 By Eric Cole
Basic functions such as importing from CSV files work OK but could be made simpler, however the lack of ability to produce reporting and charts for things such as actuals vs budget make this only a basic application. In addition the support is extremely poor - at time of writing I have now been waiting 10 days for a response to my request for assistance.

What a treat (3.3.6)
16/04/2012 10:23:00 5/5 By Didactylos
I have been using another finance package for several years. This recently updated and both the changes and the slowness of adoption of new standard features made me look for another alternative. I am so pleased I did so. One word of warning, the almost fully functional version as a demo is great but will only save what you have done if you very carefully follow exact procedures. Better in my opinion to try on some material you don't mind losing and then purchase and set it up properly. What I did find excellent was the import process from my other finance package, which worked brilliantly. The programme looks great, is massively flexible in terms of how it can be used, is very easy on the eye, and allows an almost infinite level of reporting and tracking of budgets. Sync with mobile devices is great, though does need a command in the Mac version to do it, so its not automatic. I am delighted with this, and must also praise the speed - weekdays only - of the support for the software.

Great (3.2.7)

I have just changed from Acemoney to IFinance. I love it. It does what I need but have to say that the reports are really poor. Please do develop more the reports. I would like to see a report where it shows me how much I have spend every month/quarter/year on each category and sub category.

Good for the current offer ******UPDATED 16/06/11****** (3.2.7)

For the past 20 years i've been using a pc and i've used Quicken and MS Money in the past both of which have been good but as with all these apps you need time to input all the transactions. this app allows to import files from my bank (halifax) through the download as CSV, OFX or QIF and works great. there is no need to even create an account as when you download for the first time the account is created for you. the credit card also download with ease. it works well with the company share that i have and i would hope when the share price changes the amount will change automatically. the lay out is easy to read and understand with all the information to hand. the catogories list is small and you have to create most of the catogories yourself. one thing i did and didn't realise, i wasn't sure if i would like it at first so i clicked onto the synium website and downloaded the trial version, i then used it for a few hours created a few accounts and when i wanted to buy from the app store and take up on the offer i had to download again only this time from the app store i paid for it. i then tried to save the file of the trail version it wouldn't allow me until i purchase the version from the web site, this was at full price. so with the purchased app i'll have to start again. i think the app store should offer trail versions. overall i think its definately worth the money (offer price £8.99) but i would still need time to get used of all the features. 3.2.7 update I've now used this app for a few months now and i have to say its really grown on me. You can't connect to any bank directly, however the download works ok with my credit card very well. The Halifax bank statement downloads can be done from from the statement page but any transactions already entered isn't ignored then you end up with duplicated transactions. This then takes some time to go through each entry to edit, although the best way to do it is to untick the box on the left of each transaction then it removes the calculation but not the entry, when done you can delete. The best way is to enter each transaction on a reguarlar basis. The reports are easy to setup and once a name is given the report is saved automatically very handy to identify where you have spent your money. From the reports you can see all the transactions but if you want to print them you have to export to a CSV file you can thenprint from there. Accounts; again very easy to setup and if you're starting from scratch and the download is supported just download and your'e away. Reconciling is a different matter; you have to first enter the dates you wish to reconcile to and from, enter open and closing balance, then highlight the entries and tick either open, pending or reconciled once you get the big green tick thats it you've reconciled. As you get used to it, it's quite simple and doesn't take too long. You can also have an account listed but have it independant from the rest of the accounts i.e. an investment account. The stocks and shares: Some comments have been you can't see uk shares and it doesn't update automatically. It took me sometime to setup what you have to do is select the uk ticker then followed by a dot the letter L for the London stock exchange. i.e. BP.L this will then load the data and you just input the amount of shares you own. Once the data is loaded it does automatically update. Since on of the upgrades i've noticed you can now sync to the iphone, itouch or ipad since i don't have one of these i can't really comment but i'm actively trying to convince my wife to get one then i can download the iphone app. Can't comment on the budget still not set one up as i use MoneySave.com budget planner already. All in all i still think its a good app and will stick with it, there maybe be better apps than this one but probably more than £18 now that i'm setup i won't buy another app even if it was cheaper. Would be nice to have a calander that shows all you're future transactions or better still sync with ical. I'll keep it at 3 stars becuase of the lack of bank support and would like more options with the reports and forecasting. Mick

Reasonable Money Alternative (3.2.5)
21/01/2011 13:47:00 4/5 By telza000
I was a Money user for a long while but i was tired of having to fire up VMFusion just to use MS Money. So went for this to see if it was any good. Quite pricey but does the job without any issues. There's a few improvements i'd like to see like the ability to see all your reoccuring payments in one window or to hide/filter some of the menu items on the LHS, i've got loads of shares and accounts there and it becomes a bit overcrowded. Would also be nice if you could customise some of the elements in the ledger entries. Also haven't found it possible to do a report by selected subcategories. In general, this product is good and easy to use, and if you're looking for an easy replacement for MS Money then this is as good as any. Covers all the main things i'd expect a finance app to do. Have also just download the iPhone version, be nice if it was free for those people with the desktop version!!

Works Brilliantly (3.2.5)

I'm using it in the UK and have not had a single problem. I would give it 5 stars if was just approx. £1 cheaper!!!
