Comments and Ratings for MindNode 2 – Delightful Mind Mapping

Excellent (2.4.5)
27/12/2016 11:07:00 5/5 By Shadow-007
I have used several mindmapping applications. Mindnode 2 is the best by far.

Really very very good… but... (2.4.3)
26/11/2016 14:57:00 4/5 By PieceMaker
I’ve been using this for some time across iOS and Mac devices and really enjoy it - certainly is very much worth the asking price. But a couple of (for me) glaring omissions which detract a bit: - No way to change the default spacing between branches - if you don’t use decorations/circles around a node name, the branches are packed very tightly make a complex mindmap difficult to read. Would be great if there was a slider control to change the default vertical distance between sibling nodes - Branch layout defults to either left, right or left and right of the central node. Would be great to offer an up/down (or circular) option, again an issue for complex mind maps. Yes, you can switch off ‘smart layout’ but would be nice if this were an auto-layout... (If i’m missing a way to do these, please correct me!) Very close to being a 5-star app, but at least for my use, these issues remove a star - It’s otherwise an excellent app!

Ver 2.3.3 (2.3.3)

I have been using MindNode Pro for a number of years, but the new version Ver 2.3.3 is a big improvement !!!!! Well done team this is how its done ! Fantastic!!!!!! Thank you all so much…….. Fil

Top Mind Mapping app now with reminders integration (2.2)
26/01/2016 21:14:00 5/5 By David Edge
MindNode has always been a great app for - well whatever you use mind mapping for. What it lacks in enterprise-level bells and whistles it makes up for with simplicity and clarity and a beautiful appearance, ease of use and great responsive support. This latest version allows you to designate branches as tasks and integrate them with Apple reminders - WOW!! I’ve been waiting for this in a mind map for 25 years and the only program I know of that did it was enormously expensive and sent the tasks to MS-Project. With MindNode you can break down all those steps in a project and then instead of copy and pasting them to a time/task management app, just send them to Reminders. Whether you check them off from reminders or MindNode they stay in sync. It doesn’t support priorities or dates, it’s not for building a box-girder bridge, more for organising a party or a holiday. The only thing you need to know to use it successfully is that while the release notes say you can export a map to Apple Reminders you actually use the ‘Share’ [-> icon to do this. So only 9¾ out of 10 for now.

Paying for upgrade (0)
17/11/2015 20:04:00 4/5 By GB2512
I like the product, it’s easy to use, and intuitive, once you get the hang of it. Really dissapoited to have to pay 23 GBP to get the product upgraded to work with El Capitan! I thought I read that exisitng users got a significant discount on the upgrade - didn’t happen :-(

Simple, intuative, valuable (0)

Good tool. Didn’t read any of the insturctions (but I will do!) and was able to use it very easily. Helped me plan for some presentaitons, and the output was actually so easy on the eye I used the map in a supporting document too. I also bought it on the ipad, which you have to pay for seperately (not the developers fault, this is an apple issue), but am glad to report that it all saves to iCloud (assuming you allow it) meaning I can get my maps on all my devices. I’ve read that there are other tools which offer a bit more functionality, but I wanted something simple and easy to use. That’s what I got.

Great professional tool. (0)

Loving mind node. Very intuitive, beautiful to look at. I personally like the coloured strands on a pitch black background. And the mymindnode link is very elegant and easy to use to share your thought outline. Others can expand and collapse the nodes and read notes. Great professional tool.

photo import poor - better on mobile (2.0.4)
18/08/2015 00:30:00 4/5 By brian_clear
great app but I noticed mobile app had better features. Insert picture seems to presume I use photos… cant seem to load pic from the HD directly.

Not happy buying product again!! (2.0.4)
16/08/2015 20:27:00 3/5 By ak1956
I agree with many of the reveiwers here that as an exisiting customer I begrudgingly buy the app again. Why should I pay the same as a new customer - just doesn’t seem right. I am not sure that this is not an Apple problem, rather than the developers. They neither allow trial periods or upgrades. Maybe the developer should offer an alternative download via the website to avoid some of these issues??

Very cynical approach to customer service (2.0.4)
07/08/2015 12:39:00 1/5 By jdaberdeen
Whilst a good app, the technology isn’t everything. By updating the iOS app to the new version (and formats) you will find as a Mind Node Pro user that you cannot use your mind maps, necessitating a purchase of a whole new app (Mind Node 2). The trouble is that I will now be suspicious of all updates from this developer and will look for an alternative product. So, in getting a quick cash injection customer loyalty has been lost, a steep price to pay :( Just because other developers do it doesn’t make it right.

the best I have used (2.0.3)
27/07/2015 23:45:00 5/5 By Adam Cardinal
having used mind maps for many years and used many digital versions, I can happily say that this brought the joy of simplicity back to me, its as simple as using paper and pencil, loving it

Awesome! (2.0.3)
18/07/2015 16:09:00 5/5 By ben_hdk853
I really love this app. I use it all the time when taking notes, in meetings, or just formulating ideas. I’ve been using MindNode for years now and gladly paid for the new version. Considering the value I get out of it every day, it's a tiny price to pay. I appreciate that it’s being updated, and that there’s a business model behind it. I hope MindNode lasts for a long time.

Great app, well worth the money (2.0.1)
25/06/2015 13:10:00 5/5 By Ian Hocking
This is a gold-standard app, in my opinion. Rock solid, straightforward, never confusing when working out how to do something in the app. Great for writing up notes on papers, books, and meetings. I’m happy to pay for this upgrade because I bought the previous version several years ago, and it’s about time the developer got a bit more of my cash.

Best mind map tool (2.0.1)
21/06/2015 10:25:00 5/5 By raviraj sanmugarajah
The only let down is the price, very expensive compared to other mind map tools on the app store but the app it self is Amazing!! Simple and performs beautifuly

Great App, Great Value (2.0.1)
20/06/2015 21:35:00 5/5 By incredulous2
What can I say? A top quality app by a really top quality team. It’s really a very powerful mind mapping tool. Well worth the money. Re. various reviews concerning the update pricing: I’ve been using MindNode since it was first released several years ago. This is the first paid update in all that time. Anyone who can’t see both that that’s reasonable and that the alternative is the app just dying needs to wake up. Great app. Well worth your time and money.

Great app - expensive upgrade. (2.0.1)
20/06/2015 09:57:00 3/5 By Chris Hawkins
I’m simply going to echo the sentiments of others. This is has been my go-to mindmapping app for some time. Nevertheless, not impressed with the upgrade cost. I appreciate the devs are stuck between a rock and hard place with MAS policy, but I believe the blow could have been softened by offering a much greater discount at launch - maybe for a very short period.

Best Mind Map Software I’ve Tried (2.0.1)
20/06/2015 03:43:00 4/5 By LazyLoki
Ok, I’ll get the big one out of the way first: the price. Yeah it feels a bit expensive for what is essentially a very simple mind mapping application, but its simplicity is its best feature. Other mind mapping apps over complicate things and result in you spending more time editing/organisaing than actually getting your ideas out of your brain and onto paper - or screen, whatever. Cry once about the price, and then forget about it. Once you’ve done that, this app is a pleasure to use, allowing you to construct maps quickly and efficiently. Definately worth learning the keyboard shortcuts as this speeds things up significantly. Found a couple of bugs but nothing major and I’m sure they’ll be ironed out in the next update.

My 1st review and I felt I just had to do it (2.0.1)
19/06/2015 11:15:00 5/5 By Roy54 SLB
I am wrtiting this 8mins after downloading this app, and these last 8mins have been amazing! Found this on the app store, looked at the screenshots, read a couple of reviews and took the plunge. Clicked open app and just started dumping all the clutter in my mind. Clicked to move to fullscreen and wow! So simple and intuitive no menus, buttons noting in sight. I did not have to register, fill out forms, look at menus, read instructions noting. Simply got stuck in and started typing away, 8mins later had ton of mess from my brain down on my mac in a clean and organised fashion. For me, what I paid for this app was totally worth it. Thank you guys for this tool, you clearly know what you are doing and wish you all the success.

Very basic (2.0.1)
18/06/2015 22:57:00 2/5 By Dingo12345
It’s a very basic app and this is disappointing when the cost of the app is considered. I can achieve just as much and more using Word of Pages. I’m surprised that I can’t arrange nodes in a more free form way - for example vertically. The placement options are really very limited and the app’s limitations don’t do justice to the power of mind mapping. The support documentation is very poor and does not provide adequate usage examples. The description of “child” and “sibling” nodes is baffling.I would not recommend this app.

Big Update (2.0.1)
17/06/2015 00:22:00 4/5 By MartesMan
This is a big update to MindNode and worth the full version number jump. As such, and in line with many other developers, that means buying it again. IdeasOnCanvas have got to make a living and its more a limitation of the Mac App Store that developers can’t offer discounts to existing customers (its all or nothing). In return MindNode Pro users get a few extras if you follow the instructions for the add-on pack on their website. I think this update is worth paying for and the best mind mapping software just got a whole lot better. Connection labels and colour stickers really improve the usefulness to me.

More than a bit of a cheek (2.0.1)
15/06/2015 15:16:00 2/5 By LAB_2011
I don’t usually write reviews but felt moved to do so by the total cheek in getting me to pay £15 to get the updated version. I use this often - and find it useful - but feel motivated to use something else by someone who treats their customers fairly. I am going to take a look to see what else is out there as will not be paying more to use this when they have their next great idea of how to rip off existing customers

A great update, but why charge pro users for it? (2.0.1)
13/06/2015 18:10:00 5/5 By Colin63
£15 is a lot to pay for a software update and I feel a bit grumpy about that having upgraded to Mindnode Pro just a few months ago. However, these new updates are a great improvement on the useability of the application. I use this mind-mapping app a lot and the accessibility of all the tools in this newest version make it quicker and more intuitive than it was before – more time for thinking and less concern with the program. A great improvement. Is it worth spending the money on an upgrade? Yes. The new version is that much better... But it would have been a nice sweetener if Pro users had been offered something substantial like a discount on the iOS version rather than just a couple of free themes and images.

What of a Cheek!! (2.0.1)
13/06/2015 12:57:00 2/5 By M_Sanchez
I recently purchased mindnode pro and the iOS app for my studies, I recently returned to class and mindnode for notetaking. I have literally just sat down to use my mac to continue notetaking and have found that my mac version is not compatible and requires an updated version. Very annoyed that I literally bought the last version approx 12 weeks ago. This is no way to retain customers!!!

As good as ever but... (2.0)
10/06/2015 20:36:00 4/5 By Yellowbelly74
I ahve used MindNode for ages now. I find it the best mind mapping software on the AppStore. However, whilst the ios versions updated to the new, improved product for free sadly the Mac version did not, coming instead with the need to fork out another £15. For that reason the review loses a star - not the way to look after loyal customers!
