26/04/2017 | Version : 3.7.1 | Size : 34.1 MB
OmniPlan 3.7.1 is a minor update focused on bug fixes.

Recent Changes - OmniPlan 3.7.1:

• Gantt — Addressed a bug that could prevent changing the duration of a task by dragging in the Gantt if the “Adjust Assigned Amounts” resource allocation option is selected.
• Inspectors — Addressed a layout bug that could cause the end of a project’s Gantt chart to be hidden “under” the Inspector sidebar.
• Scheduling — Restored the ability to set effort and duration independently when no resource is assigned to a task.
• Scheduling — Restored the ability to change a task’s effort via the Inspector or task outline when the task’s resource allocation is set to “adjust task effort.”
• Scheduling — It is once again possible to enter negative values for task lead/lag time.
• Stability — Fixed a crash that could occur when leveling splits a task in a dependency loop.
• Stability — Addressed a crash that could occur when deleting a task with a prerequisite.

Recent Changes - OmniPlan 3.7:

OmniPlan 3.7 for Mac introduces support for elapsed time values for task duration and lead/lag times. This release also includes new menu items for quickly customizing your view, import support for .ooutline files (created by OmniOutliner 5) and .tsv files, and a wide range of bug and stability fixes.

A note about backwards compatibility: OmniPlan 3.7 for Mac and the corresponding iOS release, OmniPlan 3.5 for iOS, contain changes to OmniPlan’s scheduling logic, syncing, and change tracking. If you’re syncing OmniPlan 3 projects between multiple devices, you should update all installations of OmniPlan to the most recent version.

• Elapsed Duration — OmniPlan now supports elapsed time values for task duration and lead/lag time! By default, OmniPlan calculates task duration and lead/lag time from the project’s work hours. Entering an “e” before either value will now convert it to an elapsed time value instead. Need to wait for the paint to dry before you can take the next step in your project? Enter “48eh” in your “Let paint dry” task’s duration field to tell OmniPlan that the next dependent task can begin Monday morning if the paint has started to dry by the end of the day Friday (and assigning additional resources to watch the paint dry won’t help it complete any earlier). OmniPlan does not yet support importing or exporting Microsoft Project elapsed time values.
• Menu Bar — The Gantt, Resource Timeline, and Calendar, as well as the outlines in each of these views, can now be hidden or revealed by options in the View menu in the OmniPlan menu bar.
• OmniOutliner — Added import support for OmniOutliner 5’s .ooutline file format.
• Import — Importing .tsv files is now supported.
• Help — The in-app Help is now localized in all languages except for Korean and Brazilian Portuguese.
• Scheduling — Cleaned up and rewrote the code OmniPlan uses to schedule project timelines. This is intended to make project scheduling more accurate by addressing things like rounding errors. As a result, you may notice slight changes in your project’s schedule after installing this update. If you are confused about why your project’s schedule as changed, or feel that it has changed in a way that it shouldn’t have, please contact our Support team!
• Performance — Setting a start constraint 100 years in the past no longer causes performance issues.
• Resource View — Resources can once again be assigned by dragging resources from the Resource View outline to tasks in a swim lane.
• Smaller fixes and improvements — Full release notes available in OmniPlan's Help menu.

• Performance — Setting a start constraint 100 years in the past no longer causes performance issues.
• Resource View — Resources can once again be assigned by dragging resources from the Resource View outline to tasks in a swim lane.
• Scheduling — Tasks set to “adjust assigned amounts” no longer max resource allocation out at 100% (as a result, resources now accurately indicate when they are overloaded).
• Smaller fixes and improvements — Full release notes available in OmniPlan's Help menu.

Comments and Ratings for OmniPlan 3

Terrible shame (3.6.1)
19/12/2016 09:57:00 1/5 By reallytriedtolikeit
Well, I read the previous reviews, which I didn’t want to believe given the normal high expectations I have for OmniGroup software… unfortunately they were correct as this product is very buggy, which, considering it is on release .6.1 of version 3, is surprising. I desparately wanted to like this product but I can’t even open the program anymore… the initial bugs having been: i) I couldn’t install this from the Mac App store and needed to download and install it from the OmniGroup website; ii) The program would crash when I added certain dependencies; and iii) eventually it went in to a loop of doom; In terms of function the program promises a lot but I still have two reservations: i) The default behaviour for clicking on a task list item is to select the title in order to edit it: this is irritating as my default behaviour (and as also mentioned by a previous reviewer) is to try to move the task up or down the list by clicking and dragging; ii) I believe there should be cross project task dependencies (not just project dependencies upon shared resources) [I couldn’t find how to create them]: for my organisation this makes A LOT of sense. Finally… chances are that Version 4 will be released soon. It would be a terrible waste of money to invest in Version 3 at this point only to see it replaced in the near future. As much as I could place this software at the heart of my organisation I will not be doing so. And that is a great shame.

Absolutely Awful (3.2)
06/12/2015 10:46:00 1/5 By Anastaciax1
Do not buy this product! I have never, ever been so frustrated with an App or piece of software in my life. Simple tasks seem to have absolutely no link to a users thought process unlike a true Apple product would have, printing capability & set up is the poorest I’ve ever seen & what I, as a user would deem to be a simple task, is made to be so frustrating to execute. Spend a bit more and buy something else…….You will not regret it like I am right now!!!!!!

Keeps crashing (3.0)
13/10/2015 07:47:00 1/5 By Newbugslug
Spent many hours creating first project, only for it to crash every time I attempt to export, regardless of the format. This really must be fixed urgently. How can you charge £109.99 and a simple feature like export causes it to crash? Terrible. Sort this and you have a half decent product but this failure is totally unacceptable.
