OneDrive is the one place for everything in your life. It gives you free online storage for all your personal files, so you can access them from your Mac and any other devices you use – iPhone, iPad, PC, Windows Phone or Android. With OneDrive for Business, you also get storage for your work files so you can share and collaborate on them with other people at your work or school/university. The OneDrive app for Mac makes it easy to work with your OneDrive files on your Mac:
•Access your OneDrive files directly from the Finder, including attachments that you’ve saved to OneDrive from Outlook.com, and documents and spreadsheets that you’ve created from Office Online.
•Work with your OneDrive files even when you’re offline. Your changes will sync automatically the next time you’re online.
•Choose the folders in your OneDrive that you want to sync on your Mac.
•Add several files or folders to OneDrive at a time by dragging them to the OneDrive folder. By putting your files in OneDrive, you can access them from anywhere and have a backup in case something happens to your computer.
•Easily open, edit and create docs and other files in OneDrive from applications such as Word or Excel.

Waste of time (17.3.6783)
1/5 By mapman3
Tried repeatedly to get this to work uninstall/install 5+ times same issue every time:
Downloads files on starting the app then won’t sync again
Never uploads files to the web storage.
By all means try it yourself but be warned.
I guess Onedrive is as bug ridden as Office 2016 for Mac.
It works great until it hangs in syncing and slows your computer to a crawl! (17.3.6783)

I have used the Onedrive mac app happily for many months but recently it has started causing my laptop to hang, so much so that my only option is to restart the machine! Please fix this MS.
Works flawlessly (17.3.6783)

No issues so far, just wish they’d add placeholders again like they once had in Windows 8
Great Asset to Any Home (17.3.6783)

Great cloud storage solution. Works best with 365 (which is overpriced IMO).
still a beta product (17.3.6783)

Still gets stuck in an endless loop of processing files, usually when computer wakes from sleep. Have to quit and reopen to force a refresh.
better now (17.3.6783)

improved from my last 2 stars a lot
Finally working seamlessly (17.3.6783)
5/5 By BogdanBat
I am a heavy user of OneDrive (Personal & Business) and I would like to praise Microsoft's effort in revamping this app, which was previously full of bugs. There are three fronts where they have made significant improvements:
- UI - there is a nice drop-down menu
- Reliability (which is the most important feature in my opinion) - app doesn't crash anymore
- Speed of updating files - now whenever I add/modify/delete a file, OneDrive propagates that on the cloud
The only annoying thing is when I add a new folder with various files that might have long file names and OneDrive needs to be restarted whenever it identifies a new filename that is too long - this is quite inefficient and it would be great if they could deal with this issue in a similar way like they are doing for incompatible characters in filenames (e.g. # or %).
Great job, OneDrive!
Works seamlessly (17.3.6783)

It works without fault and love the new drop down menu so you can select recent files - great
Not synching, takes ages to quit (17.3.6783)
2/5 By Grytr8
This version, 17.3.6783, installed on 15-inch mid 2012 MacBook Pro running 10.12.3, stalls when synching, even after reset and after delete and reinstall. Also, OneDrive—>Settings—>Quit OneDrive takes more than five minutes to quit. Microsoft Support admits that "OneDrive app on mac is facing some issues …” but did not elaborate further and have been unable to resolve the issue to-date.
Seems to work (17.3.6783)

Not working even with the latest update (17.3.6724,1219) so frustrating. Please fix it.
Not working with the latest latest update (17.3.6725.0105). This version asked for my password…looks as a good start… then the computer says, “starting Onedrive…” But it is a lie, it never starts! I managed to submit a Problem report from Onedrive menu. Maybe the programmers will get some information to fix the problem.
17.3.6783 seems to work but whar a shame I moved to Google Drive ;-(
Crashes and not syncing files (17.3.6783)
1/5 By JJSuthar
I have been using OneDrive for many years, I have 1TB cloud storage - ideal to backup and update files for easy mobile access.
HOWEVER this latest update is dreadful. Had to remove and install several times:
- Crashes on launch
- Does not sync files…stuck in a loop for hours “Processing files"
- Still does not allow special characters!?? Why not? iCloud/Dropbox/Google Drive have none of these restrictions.
- Does not updated via App Store Updates - you have to search for the app and manually update
An absolute disaster of an app (17.3.6783)
1/5 By Squuiiddyy
Crashes, hangs, locks up. This is pathetic. Literally unusable in its current release.
Hangs on quit every single time!
Essential for my studies (17.3.6725.0105)
5/5 By Sisarello74
Keeps all my office files synced between my devices and can access the files on any other device using the browser.
Adequate, but no better (17.3.6725.0105)
3/5 By grantem2000
I use OneDrive for the free storage. Files sync more slowly that with Dropbox (and Box), and I am never sure they have synced until I check. On the other hand, Dropbox (and Box) are just “install and forget”. I trust them to sync, and I have never been let down. If only One Drive were so trustworthy. The 25GB free One Drive storage (on my legacy account) is great; otherwise I would not bother.I find it hard to understand why, even after all this time, One Drive does not work as well as the competition (true in my experiecne of Andriod One Drive app and WIndows sync application as well as Mac app)
5/5 By Voyager55
I have been a long time user of onedrive on a PC and having just purchased a Mac I was able to install the app, and within a few minutes have all my files synced to the Mac. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a reliable storage option.
Suddenly stopped working (17.3.6725.0105)
3/5 By JD197628
Finally got this app to function again. It kept suddnely disappearing without any notification so I ran this update the other day. What a mistake this was as it wouldn’t work at all and only showed an outline of a “cloud” on the task bar. However, this morning I removed the app and all of the preferences files etc., re-installed it and hey presto, I was able to set up the account from scratch again and all of my files have now re-synced again. A lot of hassle to get it working, but all seems good at the moment.
Getting There! (17.3.6725.0105)

Functionality and reliability is improving over the days… KUDOS

Onedrive is nasty piece of software, almost useless. My hard drive where I use to sync with one drive died, the process of resyncing is still taking place. It takes about 5minutes to sync 5x 1k files. I have 38K to go. I will be using dropbox from now on. 1 star is generous if I could give it zero I would
UPLOAD OVER WI-FI ONLY PLEASE (17.3.6725.0105)
2/5 By FFS48
So this week I took my MacBook pro away with me and I still had several GB of data to sync. I tethered my MacBook to my iPhone’s 4G data with inevitable consequences.
Had to buy more data from my provider to see me through the month.
Apart from that everything works great, as expected. Unlike iCloud Drive which was a steaming pile of ****
Lacks Functionality (17.3.6725.0105)
1/5 By Tam Pollard
Was hoping to save some money and cut my DropBox subscription (since I get OneDrive free with Office365), but features are just so poor in comparison.
No password on shared items, no version history, no automatic expiry of share links.
Handling of shared folders is just terrible. Someone shares a folder with me, but no way to sync it to my Mac, unlike Dropbox. Which makes the sharing utterly useless.
Won’t sync with Sharepoint! (17.3.6725.0105)

Not sure if this is just connected to OSX Sierra but OneDrive will not sync with Sharepoint? just great, back to Dropbox then!
The update made it better... (17.3.6725.0105)
3/5 By Eat ham
I would agree, the old onedrive was terrible, but now microsoft have fixed it, its o.k. It does what you ask it you do but now it lags when you open the window and does get a bit annoying sometimes. More like a 2 3/4 stars
3/5 By scott_rafferty
Does the basics, allows folder selection and provides finder integration with a green tick for synced files. If the application did not keep quitting by itself then I would give this 4 stars. It would be nice if they merged all seperate accounts into a single icon in the toolbar. I use Business and Personal and there’s no indication which is which.
It started as an alternative but is now a core service (17.3.6725.0105)
4/5 By Steve@Aberdeen
Let me start by saying that I’ve used Dropbox for quite a while and, until recently, had a Pro account - that service has been rock solid and forms the baseline for my comments. The 1TB supplied (“free”) with Office365 is the main attraction but it’s proving very useful. My core data files reside on Dropbox and are sync’d between my iMac and MBP, are available for download on my iPhone and iPad, and give me a further offline backup; I reverted Dropbox back to a basic account as I no longer need as much storage. I use OneDrive for files that aren’t needed regularly i.e. anything else I need to sync, have available away from my desk, backed up remotely or share. The latter is becoming my prime use: if I need to share files with others, this has become my goto service. It’s easy to share with somebody else, restrict the ability to edit - and they don’t need their own account. That means I can share with anyone.
If I photograph a wedding or local event - I can upload and share with the bride/groom or event organiser.
Support files for students I tutor on a management diploma are uploaded and shared.
Sound recordings at events - uploaded and share with the organiser.
Files I might need when travelling (large ones that I don’t want taking up valuable SSD space on my MBP) - uploaded and then downloaded if I actually need it.
The history facility that’s within Dropbox is unnecessary with TimeMachine so not missed. What I would llike, though, is sync over LAN. I recently uploaded 5GB of sound files to share - it took several hours to upload via my local ISP (only 4mbps up) - they were then downloaded to my MBP (faster, but Dropbox would have done it even quicker via my local LAN). It would also be convenient if sharing could be set up within the App, rather than having to go to the web interface - but it’s not a deal breaker and might overcomplicate it.
The App isn’t vital if you just want to use OneDrive as a remote store as you can manage that via the web interface - but it’s essential if you want automatic syncing and an easy life.
NOT GREAT (17.3.6725.0105)
1/5 By Welshandy
I have a recurring problem that nothing seems to fix. It doesn’t sync any more and just tells me there’s an error with my drive. Previously, you’d click on the error and fix it. Now the dialogue stays greyed out. Frankly, it’s “driving” me mad. It used to work and I really liked it. But now it simply doesn’t work, so it’s a waste of space. Despite my 365 subscription, I’m thinking about going back to Goggle Docs or Dropbox!
Does what it says on the tin (17.3.6725.0105)
4/5 By Loopmeister
I’ve been a long time user of DropBox. Since I got my Office 365 subscription I decided to use the 1TB space, so started migrating my files to OneDrive.
I was a little worried if the integration between Macs / IOS and Windows 10 would be a seamless as Dropbox, and I’m pleased to say it is.
No complaints at all. And if Microsoft are going to give me 1TB of space to play with, then why not to use it...
Pile of crap (17.3.6725.0105)

this update still doesn’t fix the start up failure issue and it still shows an update in the APP Stores that you cannot load
