SimCity™ 4 Deluxe Edition

By Aspyr Media, Inc. (Aspyr Media (iDP))

The classic city simulation game returns to the Mac!

In SimCity™ 4, you don’t just build your city; you breathe life into it. Sculpt mountains, dig riverbeds, and seed forests as you lay the groundwork for your creation. Then, use your god-like powers to construct the most realistic metropolis you can imagine.

Whether you want to build mansions on mountainsides or cross canyons with bridges, the impact of your decisions is immediate. But while each click of the mouse can create, it has equal capacity to destroy. Capping an erupting volcano might save your city, or it might reroute lava down busy city streets. Sending police to quell a riot might calm down the crowd, or it might spur even further anarchy. With every decision you make, your city and your Sims will respond – for better or for worse. It’s up to you to be their guide.

The SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition includes both SimCity 4 and the Rush Hour expansion pack, which gives you more control over your city’s transportation options, plus two bonus disasters: UFO attack and Autosaurus Wrecks.

We even included the exclusive Mac “Custom Tunes” feature that allows your iTunes library to be played in the game!

I would like to rewrite my review and as I am a short fused touchy individual who can at times be snappy! I have enjoyed Sim City4, and have found on the MacBook Pro laptop that I can in fact enjoy playing Sim City4. After initial problems on the download due to the need to re boot the router. I have played many happy hours of Sim City 4 without hitch. Take care of yourselves.

As this is the only Sims available on a Macbook Air it is Horrible. I bought this thinking that I would be able to play a game and create sims. Thta is Sims 4 City Living, It is not that same as this. I made a wrong purchase wasting money. I would like to ask for my Money back.

Good SimCity game, expands on the original well. With regards to system requirements, I’m running the game on a 2016 MacBook, and can set everything to the highest level without any problems.

SimCity4delux (1.1.1)

SIMCITY4 - 21/10/16 - runs ok but when creating large city and lots of farms, it froze my iMac and damaged files, - even with supportn help I ,had to wipe the disc and reload from backup. - this took hrs. be very careful of this situation all internet programes were damaged plus my cleaning app. - what a shambles. - Have deleted game and I want my money back.

Tough to recommend but potentially one of the best games out there. (0)

I felt a bit cheated buying this game a second time in just a couple of years. The first version was on Disk and stopped being supported by Aspyr. I class this edition as the most expensive patch in my gaming history by some margin (the rest being free). It was superb, the most stable version I have played. I put many hours in and loved every minute. Then the 1.1 update caused my game save to fail. On our second device (I paid twice) things installed better but the existing cities on each region nolonger matched up at the edges and the only way to link them up properly destroyed the edges of the city and broke them. It may sound trivial but after hours of playing, watching the suburbs of every city crumble to dust, followed by every powerstation exploding because the ones on the edges vanish is heartbreaking. Knowing that this inevitably leads to the city spiralling into debt and eventual failure or having to start again from scratch is game-breaking. Thankfully you can still play with the edge of each city not matching up properly but that really is a workaround that, for the price point and the fact that thsi game is about as play tested as a game can possibly be, shouldn’t be necessary. And with a game save on one copy having failed altogether it is difficult to sink the hours into the game that you need to in order to get the best experience but fear of losing the save aside it is still a fantastic experience, just tough to recommend if you have already got it for obvious reasons and tough to recommend for new players because saving on my two copies haven’t been reliable enough. I should point out that Aspyr are historically pretty good at the support side across all their titles but that’s like selling a car on the premise that it’s propensity to break down is offset by the brilliant garage you can book in it at. Lets face it; you would buy a different car. I my opinion, it is still the second best Sim City version out there (2000 still trumps it for me) but there is a lot of fun to be had slowly learning to build the city of your dreams, destroying them or, my favourite, building your own dystopia, such as no police, no roads, just railways, subways and ferries and watching it crumble and citizens riot. Or not as I found it actually works quite well for some reason.

Terrible customer services from Aspyr (1.1.0)

Having been a huge Simcity fans since simcity 2000 back in ’94 when i was 7/8. I have found Aspyr tech supprt to be incredibly rude and unwilling to help resolve issues with there games. The game itself is very good, there some issues, and ig you expereince these, do not expect Aspyr to bother to help a customer, once they have pocketed your money for the sale of the game. They could learn a thing or two from apple, in context of customer services.
