Todoist: To Do List | Task List

By Doist (Ist Productivity Ltd.)
Supported Devices : Mac OS

Release Notes

22/05/2017 | Version : 7.0.1 | Size : 6.4 MB
-- 7.0.1 --

- Fixed: Dates will be pre-filled properly in the Quick Add if you have date parsing disabled.
- Fixed: Made the title bar color for the “Neutral” theme less dark.
- Fixed: Zoom is working again!
- Fixed: Quick Add will be positioned properly all the time. It will appear out of the screen again.

-- 7.0 --

- We updated the design of the app to make it feel more at home on your Mac, including extending your theme color all the way to the tippy top of your top bar.
- A redesigned smart task Quick Add. Not only does it look more like a Quick Add on Mac should, it also works much faster for getting your tasks off your mind and onto your to-do list.
- The smart Quick Add now always includes a shortcut to assign a task to someone else. Just type “+” into the task name field to pull up a list of collaborators.
- A bunch of behind-the-scenes improvements and bug fixes which admittedly aren’t very sexy, but are nonetheless vital to keeping your to-do list reliable and your tasks safe. Needless to say, we’re pretty darn excited about it.

Comments and Ratings for Todoist: To Do List | Task List

Good app but fails to refresh (6.3.19)
13/02/2017 14:57:00 4/5 By Tristan 12342134
The app is great for planning your days and weekm however if i come back to the app the following day it is still in the previous day and I cannot find a way to refresh it to show the current day.

Brilliant - couldn’t be without it (6.3.18)
24/01/2017 09:42:00 5/5 By DJWTDJWT
This is a really fantastic app across all platforms. I currently work in a PC based environment but am all Mac at home including an iPhone. Todoist has everything covered including some brilliant addins and extensions for Chrome etc… I simply would be lost without this now!

A really brilliant app (6.3.18)
20/01/2017 15:07:00 5/5 By robmiller31
I’ve used Todoist for over a year now and love it. Having tried loads of different task management apps it’s best I’ve found by far. Features and UI meet all my needs, and cross platform support is superb. I really recommend giving this a whirl and don’t hestitate to pay my annual fee for the full feature set - I think it’s OK to pay developers for their work and this team have definitely earned it.

Good, but free-mium model is a little misguided (6.3.18)
13/01/2017 03:34:00 3/5 By dutts303
Overall a nice task app, had some isues with syncronisation between the MacOS version and iOS versions which was a shame (needed to log out and in again regularly on my iMac to get it to update). I feel that asking for money for what are really essential basic features (like seeing completed tasks and getting reminders) is a bit poor when there are alternatives that are very similar and free. I ended up moving to Wunderlist and have yet to experience the same synronisation issues.

So easy (6.3.18)
13/12/2016 01:58:00 5/5 By Andrewthebaconlover
So easy to manage and having moved to Todoist from the ever more complex world of Omnifocus where i was spending too much time keeping up with a complex system, Todoist does the job for me perfectly and with seamless multi device support.

Crash on OSx 10.9.5 (6.3.14)
19/09/2016 04:49:00 4/5 By K£&ttvy
Hi I love your app but after the update it crashes on my osx v10.9.5 I know the update was about the new osx but please don’t forget about the old version too. Thanks a lot.

Fantastic app (6.3.9)
09/07/2016 12:11:00 5/5 By GrahamSmithPhoto
I came Todoist after being frustrated with the lack of progress / updates / respect from “Things” - it was definitely the right move! I have a premium account and I could not be happier with the app and especailly with the company as it feels like they do actually care and are constnstly doing updates.

Downloaded and deleted (6.3.9)
09/07/2016 03:05:00 2/5 By Manny0204
I’ve been looking for a To do app quite sometime and needed more functions than what “Doo” for mac provided. Downloaded both Wunderlist and Todoist. Upon signing up to todoist and attempting to add tasks I was met with a “you need to be signed in” message although the app confirmed I already was. It wasn’t until a confirmation email 5 minutes later that I Was able to do so. Although very miniaml and appealing the app doesnt feel very polish, little details such as window size, spaces between boxes and text not all fitting the screen etc. I’ve therefore opted for wunderlist as it feels more polished and feels like it works.

Buggy and now not working (6.3.9)
23/06/2016 02:17:00 1/5 By DesignThinking
Cant even add tasks in this ‘new’ version! Clicking the ‘plus’ symbol (+) simply refreshes the screen. No way to input text! Perhaps TEST your so-called “Updates” before releasing them? Useless.

So utterly broken (6.3.7)
18/05/2016 10:20:00 1/5 By Mr Baldman
every version has sync issues, utterly sick of it. Strongly recommend using the chrome version, its far superior and works perfectly like the mobile app

Buggy, use website instead (6.3.6)
04/05/2016 12:41:00 2/5 By Sach160
This is buggier and has no more functionality than the web version. It’s better to just keep a safari window open for Todoist than use this. A current bug is that when you click on a notification it doesn’t take you to the task.

broken but working again now (6.3)
25/02/2016 14:57:00 3/5 By Blotzz
just updated this and now it’s completely broken - won’t open at all…… terrible what do I do next? Found a support question saying that I should re-download from app store which I have done but it still doesn’t work. I use this programme to make my life easier… Not impressed, why is there nothing on the website or app store telling us not to update until they have fixed it? okay - it seems to be working again now after I restarted computer and then did as they said re. changing preferences….

A good compromise between Reminders app and the "bells and whistles" task managers (6.2.4)
09/02/2016 09:44:00 4/5 By Grover Netzer
I came to Todoist after several years of using omnifocus on mac and all my iDevices. I had stopped using OF because although I found it easy to get stuff into it, I found it difficult to generate a simple to do list for the day. Yes, I know I could create perspectives etc, and it is a lovely app. But somehow it was not working for me. So for a few months, I relied on the Reminders app and the occasional post it note. After all the money I had shelled out on OF, I was not keen to buy another app. Then I made the mistake of listening to a podcast where Mike Vary described some of the issues he had with OF, and how he had switched to Todoist. So I gave it a go and a few weeks of trying the premium version, I paid the subscription. The cost (£21.99) seems expensive but bear in mind that the iPhone/ipad apps are free. This app does betray it’s origins as a web app, so is not as visually attractive as OF or Things, and is a bit limited in terms of how you can customise the look. However, the simple interface meant that I found it very easy to create task lists and it took me 5 minutes to learn the syntax for searching and filtering. I disagree with one of the previous reviewers, Todoist has much more power than Reminders, and this is evident in the multiple ways you can use filters and labels to create customised selective views. You can also email tasks (complete with attachments) easily to your Inbox or any of your projects. There is a nice plug in for Gmail but not for Mail.app unfortunately. Other key features include compatibility with multiple platforms and ability to easily share project tasks with other workers. I found the syncing between devices to be almost instantaneous and less problematic than OF. No sync error s so far! Disadvantages- lack of customisation options. I find the little grey numbers by the project folders, difficult to read. It would be good to have a way of hiding certain project folders too. There is a way of getting reminders from Siri to Todoist but this requires an IFTTT action, which requires a manual push, so it is not a dictate it and forget it scenario. Overall, a fairly easy to use cross-platform app for task lists that is a step up from the Reminders app, but has has less complexity than Omnifocus or 2DO (yes I tried that too).

Dreadful… and expensive (6.2.3)
11/12/2015 14:19:00 1/5 By DesignThinking
How this can make it into the “Best apps” category, I don’t know. To say this app is weak is to understate its failings. You get less functionality than is already available in the Apple Reminders app, unless you fork out £21.99 per year to go ‘premium’. Yes, “per year”! Todoist is the app that keeps on giving — to this greedy developer, at least. £22 is not enough to actually OWN the app. No, users are expected to ‘rent’ any useful functionality from the Todoist cowboys every year. Finally, a task management app that makes OmniFocus look cheap! A singularly unimpressive attempt at an app (well, it’s a web-app, really). The words “touch”, “wouldn’t”, and “bargepole” come to mind...

Just a web app (6.2.3)
03/11/2015 12:13:00 1/5 By Jono.H.
It's just a web app, not Mac like at all.

Great (6.2.3)
27/10/2015 20:12:00 5/5 By TimoGunt
I manage a fairly large software development team and find I have tasks coming at me from all directions. I now have this on my iPhone, iPad, mac, Windows PC and in Outlook using the plugin and I’m starting to get a grip on the constant flow of emails, projects, change requests, problems and general enquiries that come my way. I’ve tried a number of Todo apps such as Things and Wunderlist but I have found this to be the simplest and best. I love the way I can drag tasks to different projects and reorder them by dragging. It’s taken a number of restarts to learn the simplest way of managing my tasks but I’ve now simplified it so that the app doesn’t control my life, it just hints at what I should be concentrating on. The updates come thick and fast for this app too so you know people are constantly refining it. I’m happy!

Cant live without this app (6.2.3)
14/10/2015 19:07:00 5/5 By Genevieve Dennis
I use this on my mac at home, at work, and on my iphone and its brilliant. They all sync up, i can filter by priority, date, and also subsection all the work. Love that I can know attach documents to areas I have commented on - it makes everything so much easier.

Good, but…. (6.2.2)
01/10/2015 22:00:00 2/5 By itsallgonepearshaped
I really wish you’d test your product more. You’ve fixed the blank window, but I have to cancel the app every other time I add an item.

Almost perfect! Slowly gets better and better (6.2.1)

I have used Toodledo for years and although I have looked at Todoist from time to time it has never come close to providing the wealth of features that Toodledo has. Until now. With the latest release I decided to use Todoist as my main to-do app and have been doing so for two weeks now. It is slick and fast and does everything that Toodledo did apart from auto-sorting the inbox - a bizarre fault that customers have been berating Todoist about for at least two years to my knowledge (it auto-sorts all the other screens). Todoist developers (developer?) are painfully slow to implement the ideas posted on the forum, but they do eventually - so keep posting! Although Toodledo still just shades Todoist on features, it looks old and tired now, despite a recent makeover, while Todoist looks and behaves superbly and intuitively on my Mac OS X and iOS devices. Alarms and reminders to email and SMS are well handled and it is easy to create saved custom filters, projects and labels. I particularly like the tolerance it has of using natural language for entering dates and times and forwarding emails to it. Sharing to collaborate on a project is easy. Sub-tasks couldn’t be easier, just drag to the required indent level and add further subtasks using the insert new task below/above command. Batch altering of due dates is easy once you realise you must hold down the Cmnd or Ctrl or Shift key to select the first task - just clicking a task opens it for editing. I mention some of these things because I suspect that some of the negative comments on the Todoist forums are because many people don’t know how to use it properly. This, it must be said, is mainly the fault of the developers, as many of the features are not well, or in some cases at all, documented, and the developers rely heavily on you using the forum. Todoist is not perfect but it is near enough to be a pleasant and productive experience and I recommend it. You will need the Pro paid-for version to get the full power of the app, but that was true of Toodledo as well. By the way, I beleive the blank screen issue noted by other reviewers has been fixed in the last update, although I did not personally experience it.

App stopped working (6.2.1)

Great product but somehow since the last upgrade, a blank window appears and I have to use the web/online version.

Good, but…. (6.2.1)
24/09/2015 19:58:00 3/5 By itsallgonepearshaped
The new version now opens up a blank window… Otherwise pretty good overall.

Don’t Bother! (6.2.1)
23/09/2015 23:06:00 1/5 By kevin hilliard
No back up or support. I upgraded to premium for £21,99, my card was debited but the app did not give me access to premium features. Logged a support case, got asked for a screenshot from my apple acct to prove i’d purchased premium. Sent that and never got a response back. When you leave feedback on their support site it then tells you that 60% of their customers are happy! Well im one of the other 40%!!! Probably better apps out there anyway, search starts here. got my refund from apple straightaway!

Excellent Update (6.2)
23/09/2015 11:59:00 5/5 By Rich Bate
Very nice update to an already brilliant app.

Great Application; why change the filter colours? (6.1.1)
16/09/2015 22:29:00 4/5 By Red-Wolf2500
This is an absolutly brilliant app. It intergrates brilliantly with the IOS app and the website meaning you can access it and add stuff to it anywhere. I have been using the free version for ages and recently upgraded to premuim which is really worth the money, but not neccesary as it is a great app even without those features. For some reason Todoist have changed the default colours of the priorities filters, which is really annoying. If I want to change the colours I can do it myself. In the next update could they please return to the original default priorities filter colours. Changing them was unecesary and annoying.

Great GTD Software (6.1.1)
16/09/2015 18:13:00 4/5 By MAKSTER
Really easy to use with total cross platform support and the ability to segregate and measure multiple projects, integration with MS Outlook sadly lacking which means there is no easy of creating tasks from email. The app itsel is clean and very intuitive, the concept of Karma uses gamification very nicely… Woule recommend

Life-saver (6.1.1)
10/09/2015 12:06:00 5/5 By Opposethedp
One month in, I was going to walk out of my incredibly stressful new job. Then I discovered ToDoIst. Everything changed. If that’s not enough of an endorsement, ToDoIst has made the difficult simple, the stressful fun and the complicated manageable. It has excellent functions, a clear interface, syncs perfectly across all my devices, making it the best “work buddy” I’ve ever had. Thanks developers – you saved my job.

Another one needing a zero stars option. (6.1.1)
02/08/2015 18:35:00 1/5 By Whydoihavetohaveanickname999
The app doesn’t work if there’s no internet access - just opens with a never-ending loadint-type animation. No rational way to set recurring tasks - it’s not possible to set a quarterly task on the 24th of the month. It can’t be used without having a Todoist account and being logged in and being on the internet. Absolutely useless.

great todo app (6.1.1)
31/07/2015 12:40:00 4/5 By AntTYfC
i mostly like usung the priority matrix with the 4 quadrants ranging in proprity and deligation. however as a straight forward todo app this has been on of the best i have tryed. basoc download is fine you can see your daily tasks and change if you want to view by priority. your mian view is inbox or today however you can click to see tomorrow and the week. the upgrade is obviously where the product is at and really comes alive. i think todoist gets the balance rite between free and its upgrade unlike other apps i have used. its well worth downloading across devices and giving it a try for a month or more, as you customise the settings and rack up the points it soon feels apart of how you work. some apps i have with a points system also have inspitational quotes and achievements i think (even though it sounds sad) that would be a good addition to the Karma.

Don’t receommend (6.1.1)
28/06/2015 10:43:00 1/5 By Natalie_sj
No difference to any other todolist. It only shows today tasks and there is no more further function. Why wouldn’t I just use iCAL ? I need to see when and what important task is coming soon with time left. There is one app I have been using that consistetly shows left time and coming important events. Waist of my time to download and try. I wanted to put todolist on my notification board and this app was the only choice. How inefficient.

Finally! A To Do / Task / Project Management Tool thats awesome (6.1)
02/06/2015 20:54:00 5/5 By Strwbrry.com
I have tried everything, i have paid premium for all the to do apps, project management apps and task apps. Yet this is the one. Its beautifully designed, easy to use, logical and no more. Its also affordbaly priced. Perfect to run allof my projects on my Mac and access daily on the go with my iPhone. I rarely leave reviews but this deserved it. Rock on!
